About TSW

Tactical Support Wing

TSW is the headquarters command of five Commander Naval Air Force Reserve (CNAFR) squadrons and seven squadron augment units.  Four Adversary squadrons provide more than 70% of the Navy’s professional Adversary support for pre-deployment training and 100% of Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) air-to-air training.  TSW augment units provide instructors for VFA-106, VFA-122, VFA-125, VAQ-129, and ACCLW, as well as a variety of support to NAWDC

VAQ-209

The VAQ-209 Star Warriors, flying EA-18G Growlers out of NAS Whidbey Island, provide strategic depth to the Electronic Attack community.   VAQ-209 deploys periodically in support of the Global Force Management Allocation plan.

VFC-12

The VFC-12 Ambush, based out of NAS Oceana, provide adversary support to SFARP, AIRWING, and locally based Fleet squadrons.  Flying F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, they are capable of simulating advanced threat aircraft in the air-to-air environment.

VFC-13

The Fighting Saints of VFC-13, out of NAS Fallon, support TOPGUN, SFARP, and AIRWING training events as well as FRS fighter detachments and ULT events out of NAS Lemoore.  The squadron transitioned to the F-16 in 2022 in order to better simulate high-end threat aircraft and provide higher quality training to Fleet squadrons preparing to go on deployment.

VFC-111

The VFC-111 Sundowners, based out of NAS Key West flying the F-5N Tiger II, are the primary source of F/A-18 FRS support as well as providing professional Red Air for SFARP and Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force ULT

The River Rattlers of NAS New Orleans retired their legacy F/A-18Cs and transitioned to the F-5N Tiger II.  VFC-204 has become a destination for air-to-air training, providing Red Air support to FRS detachments and ULT support to Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force squadrons.
